Apostille for a Georgian marriage certificate: when you need it and how to get it
An apostille is a certification a state adds to an official document so it can be used abroad. Whether you need one depends on the country and the authority where you plan to submit your certificate.
Why an apostille exists
A marriage certificate issued in Georgia is a Georgian official document. For another state to accept it, the document usually has to be certified — either with an apostille or through consular legalisation, depending on which treaties apply between the two countries.
